Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba
Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba is a traditional Japanese village and open air museum located on the Western side of Lake Saiko near Mount Fuji. The village is very popular with both locals and tourists as it is an authentic reconstruction of a traditional hamlet that once stood in the area before a typhoon destroyed it in 1966. Following the destruction, the hamlet was rebuilt and the site later became an important cultural heritage site.
Saiko Iyashi is designed to provide visitors with an authentic experience of what life was once like in traditional Japan. You can enjoy exploring the old style houses which have all been converted into craft shops, museums and even galleries. Saiko Iyashi hosts a number of fun and engaging events for visitors to enjoy. Craft workshops are held where you can have a go at making your own traditional crafts such as pottery and weaving. Cultural exhibits are held to provide an informative explanation on traditional Japanese life, clothing and tools. For those seeking a foodie experience, Saiko Iyashi offers a good selection of traditional foods which can be enjoyed against the historical backdrop. Enjoy foods such as soba, udon, dango and tempura. To enhance your experience, why not rent traditional clothing to feel truly connected to the culture and heritage. The highlight of the show is of course catching a glimpse of Mount Fuji on the horizon which will truly make your visit unforgettable!
