For most people travelling to Japan, they will visit and stay in Tokyo during their trip! For this reason, Tokyo is seen as the gateway to exploring Japan, but is also the perfect location to visit the wider Kanto region of Japan! The Kanto region is home to the prefectures of Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, Saitama, Tochigi, Ibaraki and Gunma. We offer a number of tours which will allow you to explore Tokyo and the wider Kanto region with ease, letting you get off the beaten path and get closer to Japan’s nature and scenery. We have created this to page to help inspire you on how to create the perfect ‘Outdoor Adventures and Scenic Escapes’ inspired itinerary. There is so much to see and do in Japan, so why not explore Tokyo, but make sure to explore the other gems that the country can offer you!
Tokyo is the gateway to Japan. Home to two airports which cater to both domestic and international flights, and with excellent transport options to easily reach the city centre, you can begin and finish your Japan trip with ease! For avid hikers and walkers, photographers and nature lovers, Japan does not disappoint. From mountains and volcanic landscapes, beautiful shrines and temples, and the Sea of Japan, you can get lost admiring and exploring Japan’s natural beauty and power.
For this itinerary, we will suggest a 4 day route that covers a good variety of nature and scenic based locations and attractions in Tokyo and across the Kanto region. This itinerary takes you to Tokyo, Kamakura and Enoshima, Hakone and Fuji’s stunning Kawaguchiko. We hope this will help you when planning where to go and what to do on your dream trip!
Day 1 MOUNT TAKAO

For many travellers, the areas of Shinjuku, Shibuya, Tokyo, and Asakusa are very popular as they are very central, offer great hotels and links to transport. We highly recommend staying in the Shinjuku area. A lively hub and one of the most popular areas in the city, Shinjuku has a plethora of shops, restaurants, cafes and hotels to suit all tastes. Shinjuku is also home to the busiest station in all of Tokyo, but it offers incredible links to every part of the city. Shinjuku is also where you will meet your tour guide for day 1, day 2, day 3 and day 4 before starting your tours. So it will be a very convenient location to stay for this itinerary.
Mount Takao Adventure : Discover Nature and Tradition in Tokyo / September - May
This tour gives guests the opportunity to experience nature and beautiful landscape in Tokyo! When you think of Tokyo you probably don’t think of mountains and greenery. However, Tokyo prefecture is in fact home to many beautiful hiking trails and mountains. Mount Takao is a sacred site in Japan which has a rich history spanning over 1,200 years, perfectly blending culture and religion together. If you love nature, hiking and want to get off the beaten tourist path on an easy day trip in Tokyo, then this tour is for you! Make your Tokyo trip unique by visiting this hidden gem! You will learn all about Takao’s forna and flora at a local nature centre, ride a picturesque cable car to the half way point up the mountain, and explore the many famous landmarks and attractions of Takao including a monkey park and garden, suspension bridge, ancient Cedar Tree avenue and Takao’s temple. You will finish the tour at the summit, taking in spectacular views of Tokyo, the surrounding mountainous landscape and even Mount Fuji on clear days.

Wake up fresh in Tokyo. Today you will have the entire day to explore the amazing areas of Kamakura and Enoshima. Upon arrival at Shinjuku Station, your guide will greet you and take you on a memorable tour to these two beautiful spots to enjoy historic, cultural and nature highlights.
1 Day Trip to Kamakura and Enoshima : Shrines, Seaside, Temple and Tea / All Year Round
Enjoy a day trip from Tokyo in the neighbouring prefecture of Kanagawa, and explore two of its hotspots Kamakura and Enoshima! Kamakura is a popular day trip to do during your trip to Tokyo as it’s only just over 60 minutes away from Shinjuku station. This tour is a great opportunity to venture out and see a different part of Japan but with the ease of still being close to the city! Japanese locals especially love Kamakura and Enoshima due to its close proximity to the sea! So why don’t you take a break from the skyscrapers and bustling Metropolis of Tokyo, and come experience this slice of paradise!
On the tour you will learn all about Kamakura’s past and significance at its many shrines and temples, experience a traditional Japanese matcha and sweet experience in a Bamboo forest, feed Japanese Koi Carp, and walk Kamakura’s popular shopping street lined with restaurants, street food vendors and local crafts. In Enoshima, you will ride the iconic local train ’Enoden’ beloved by locals, take a walk along its beautiful coastline and finally go onto Enoshima island to see its shrine and observatory overlooking all of Kamakura and the sea!

Day 3 HAKONE
How to Start Off Your Day
Wake up again in Tokyo. Today you will have the entire day to explore the amazing area of Hakone. Upon arrival at Shinjuku Station, your guide will greet you and take you on a memorable tour to this beautiful mountainous area to enjoy cultural and nature highlights.
Hakone Highlights : Explore Japan's Mountainous Region / all year round
Experience nature, the lush mountainous landscape and Japan’s most famous and iconic landmarks during your trip to Japan on this day trip from Tokyo! This tour has been designed so customers can experience one of Japan’s most popular and beautiful areas in one day, Hakone. The tour will provide customers with the opportunity to visit all of Hakone’s top attractions. If you love nature and spending time outdoors, this tour is for you! You will ride the many famous modes of transportation such as the Tozan train, Cable Car, Ropeway, and Pirate Ship, visit the volcanic valley of Owakudani, ride along the stunning Lake Ashinoko, visit Hakone’s most famous shrine and spend time at one of Hakone’s great art museums. If you’re lucky, you will have great views of the impressive Mount Fuji!

As we get back around 7pm you may wish to stay in the Shinjuku area for the night instead of exploring other areas of Tokyo. However, if you wish to explore more areas of Tokyo and it’s nightlife, you can easily connect to the JR Yamanote Line which will take you to popular areas such as Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Harajuku and Ueno from Shinjuku station.
Day 4 MOUNT FUJI
How to Start Off Your Day
Wake up in Tokyo for your final day of the trip! Today you will have the entire day to explore the amazing area of Lake Kawaguchiko. Upon arrival at Shinjuku Station you will need to meet your guide outside of Shinjuku Bus Terminal just opposite the South Entrance/Exit of Shinjuku station, your guide will greet you and take you on a memorable tour to this beautiful area to enjoy cultural and nature highlights.
Mount Fuji Day Trip : Adventure around Lake Kawaguchiko / All year round
This tour has been designed to ensure customers will have opportunities to see Mount Fuji from many impressive locations around the Lake Kawaguchiko area. If you love nature and spending time outdoors, this tour is for you! The tour will provide guests with a well balanced itinerary including nature, shrines and temples, a museum and great photography opportunities. Lake Kawaguchiko is the biggest of the five lakes that surround Mount Fuji, and it is therefore the best to visit for a day trip to experience as much as possible. Your tour will begin travelling from Shinjuku Express Bus Station in Tokyo to Kawaguchiko station. From there, you will use the sightseeing bus with your tour guide to explore Lake Kawaguchiko!
Your first stop will be at Lake Kawaguchiko’s nature park where you can enjoy a relaxing walk through a flower garden as you take in fantastic views of Mount Fuji and some shopping at a local centre to pick up the perfect souvenir of your day. Next, we will visit a famous and beautiful shrine complex that provides a sense of peace and more fantastic views of Mount Fuji. You will then enjoy some culture at a local art museum famous for its artistic kimonos all displaying beautiful scenes from nature and the four seasons. Finally, you will then travel on to enjoy a ropeway experience so you can sit back and relax as you take in the breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and its largest lake. It will then be time to head back to Kawaguchiko station and take the bus back to Tokyo.
