Atera Gorge
The Atera Valley, known as ‘Atera Keikoku’ in Japanese, is known for its pristine beauty and stunning coloured waters. Running approximately 6km in length, the waters of Atera Gorge and nearby Kakizore Gorge, dazzled visitors with their emerald-colouring and clarity.
Trails leading to and from the gorge include several viewpoints from where visitors can capture fantastic photographs and take in the surrounding landscape including the deep rock pools, waterfalls, the river and lush surrounding forest. The nearby Atera Gorge Campground is a good option for visitors wanting to spend a couple of days in the stunning area.
