The Komagatake Ropeway is one of two in Hakone – along with the aptly named Hakone Ropeway – that provide access to and from Ashinoko (Ashi Lake). Running from Hakone-En Station to Komagatake Chojo Station, the ropeway operates between Ashinoko and the Komagatake peak of Mount Hakone.

The ropeway covers a distance of 1783 metres in 7 minutes, as it runs between the only two stations on the line. In doing so, the ropeway affords fantastic views of Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi when the weather is clear, and from the top, visitors can wander to the Hakone Motostumiya Shrine or multiple walking tracks that lead back down to the lake or across to Owakudani Station and Sounzan Station – on the Hakone Ropeway line.

Unlike the Hakone Ropeway which operates small and frequent gondolas, the Komagatake Ropeway boasts a much larger gondola that departs every 20 minutes between 09:00 and 16:50.
