Bankei Ski Resort, located in the western hills of Sapporo, Japan, has a rich history rooted in the city's development as a winter sports destination. Established in the early post-war years, Bankei emerged as a community-focused ski area, offering accessible skiing for residents of Sapporo.
The resort gained popularity for its convenient location a mere 20 minutes from central Sapporo(Sapporo Station), making it a favorite for families, beginners, and night-skiing enthusiasts. Over the decades, Bankei evolved to include modern facilities, snowmaking systems, and a variety of runs to accommodate skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

For those guests wanting ski lessons, BanKei features a dedicated ski school with certified instructors available for private or group lessons. English-speaking instructors are also on hand to assist international visitors, ensuring a supportive learning environment for all guests.
Sapporo Bankei offers rental services for high-quality ski equipment, including snowwear, accommodating visitors who may not have their own gear. The resort provides cozy cafés and restaurants, such as the "Panke" dining space located at the center lodge and "Bankeien" near the west lift station, where guests can relax and enjoy meals or hot beverages between skiing sessions. Your guide will point these out and make recommendations.

DESCRIPTION

This tour will start at Sapporo Station in front of “Myomu”(The Circular Stone Structure) in front of the South Exit doors of Sapporo Station. Kindly meet here at exactly 7:30a.m. Your guide will be there to greet you. After brief introductions and smiles, we will start to embark on our wonderful day of skiing at BanKei Ski Resort.

After a very short subway and bus ride, we will arrive at BanKei Ski Resort. Once we have arrived, your guide will escort you to the main lodge. Then, it is directly to the ski rental shop to “get fitted” with the proper sized ski equipment and wear. Once finished, your guide will distribute and activate your lift tickets and point out the different slopes and entrances to the various lifts, as well as places to have lunch or take breaks.  Then, it is time to “hit the slopes” and enjoy a day of skiing. For those tour members taking “complete beginner” ski lessons, your guide will escort you to your ski school area and help get you checked in for the ski lesson. Once your 2 hour ski lesson has concluded, you can practice (on your own) all the ski techniques you have learned. You are free to practice skiing until 16:30. Don’t forget to have lunch and take breaks.

Guests/skiers will be able to use their time on the slopes however they wish. There is no set time for lunch or when to “take breaks”. Each guest will be responsible for when, where and for how long to take a lunch break. Also, “break times” throughout the day will be decided by each guest. Although your guide will NOT be involved with guests lunches or breaks, your guide will be able to assist you at any time throughout the day through contact info given to you on the tour date.

For physical safety reasons, it is assumed and strongly encouraged that each guest will have a lunch break and take various breaks throughout the 5 hour ski day to enable your body to rest and recharge.

While enjoying your day of skiing, please be sure to keep track of time so that you can make it back to the prescribed meeting point to return your rental equipment and wear at 16:30. Soon after, we will catch the 17:44 bus (or a slight possibility an earlier bus at 17:13) to return back to Sapporo Station.

Once each guest has returned everything to the ski rental shop, your guide will escort you to the nearby bus stop where we will catch a bus to begin our very short journey back towards Sapporo Station.
