While staying in the area around Ebisu isn’t as convenient as nearby Shibuya and Shinjuku, doing so affords a different, much calmer pace and an atmosphere away from the hustle and crowds of more its more famous neighbour.

The area of Ebisu is a popular and convenient area to base your stay in Tokyo for any of the reasons listed above. Ebisu Station is conveniently located near to the highly popular Ebisu Garden Place. This is a major complex consisting of dining options and stylish bars. This includes the Michelin star Joel Robuchon restaurant. Garden Place was built on the former site of a former brewery for Ebisu beer, and opened in 1994. You can reach it by taking the ’Yebisu Skywalk’ which will take approximately 5 minutes. This is a great option after a long day of exploring Tokyo to unwind, have a nice dinner and drinks before heading back to your hotel. You can even visit the Yebisu Beer Museum at Garden Place to learn all about the beer’s long history and to do beer tasting.

Whilst staying in Ebisu, you can also explore Ebisu Shrine, Shirokanedai Park and Yebisu Park for a relaxing stroll, or how about the nearby Tokyo Photographic Art Museum for any budding photographers and enthusiasts. In Spring, the nearby area of Meguro becomes very popular due to the beautiful Cherry Blossoms that bloom over the river. So if you’re staying in Ebisu in Spring, make sure to make the short journey across to see them!
