The Crumpet Cafe in Shiga Kogen is Japan’s most high altitude cafe, and located in Yokoteyama, the highest mountain of Shiga Kogen. The specialty of the cafe is, as the name suggest, crumpets, a British thick, savory cake. It was the first crumpet cafe in all of Japan. You can find both savory and sweet toppings, like cream cheese and lemon curd or egg with tomato.
