Sitting to the south-east of Mount Fuji, Gotemba City is known for its views of Fuji and popular shopping outlets including the Gotemba Premium Outlets – a complex of more than 200 Japanese and international brand stores. Located on the Gotemba Line, the limited express ‘Mt Fuji’ service runs to the station from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. Business hotels make-up the majority accommodation in the area with prices often notably cheaper than other popular hotel areas around Mount Fuji Staying in Gotemba is best-suited to visitors using their own car and wanting to shop in the outlets, with roads from the city providing access to the southern reaches of the mountain including Fuji Safari Park, Fujiyama Snow Resort Yeti and the popular ‘onsen’ (hot spring) area of Hakone to the east.
