Gora is a popular accommodation and museum area in Hakone, located to the north of the central town. Many if not most visitors to Hakone will venture into this area thanks to the the popular Hakone Tozan Railway which connects the central town to many excellent museums and galleries and Owakudani and Ashinoko via the Hakone Ropeway. Higher-up than the area around Hakone-Yumoto Station, Gora is a forested and mountainous area with some excellent accommodation including large international hotels and small traditional guesthouses. Reaching the area requires visitors to take the Hakone Tozan Railway or local buses from the main area around Hakone-Yumoto Station however given the array of attractions in the area it is an attractive place to stay. If you do so, consider booking your accommodation with meals included as restaurants around Gora often close early, limiting dinner options nearby.
