This cafe is unique in that all the robots are controlled remotely by employees who are living with disabilities and therefore can only work from home. The remote staff speak to you through the robots. The cafe gives employment opportunities to those unable to work in physically demanding jobs and helps tackle social isolation, so you can be happy knowing you are helping to support a great cause!
As you enter the cafe, you will be greeted by both human staff and a robot! For customers just wanting a drink, you can walk in without needing a reservation and take a seat in the cafe area. As you enjoy your drink in the Cafe seating area, you can watch as the robots around the cafe serve customers! If you want to eat at the cafe, please note that you will need to make a reservation. However, the dining area will be more immersive as each dining table is allocated its own robot server and companion. On selected days of the week, there is a Barista robot making coffees and teas which is great fun to watch! It is best to check their website for details and timings.
The cafe offers a good selections of hot and cold drinks, alcoholic beverages, foods and snacks. Customers can enjoy interacting with the robots by speaking with them. The staff controlling the robots can speak both Japanese and English. You can even have a go at controlling one of the small robots to see what it’s like for the staff who control them remotely!
