Samurai & Ninja Museum with Experience
Only minutes walk from Nishiki Market, Kyoto’s ‘Samurai & Ninja Museum’ offers fantastic insight into Japan’ legendary samurai and almost-mythical ninja with visit complemented by guided experiences. Museum exhibitions profile the history of the samurai demonstrated by a large collection of Edo Period (1603-1868) armour, weaponry and other artefacts of Japan’s warrior class. Unlike many museums, the collection is not kept behind glass – other than, for obvious reasons, weaponry including swords – allowing visitors a much more personal experience, which is heightened further by the chance to enjoy a hands-on samurai experience while there.
Samurai experiences are available for groups of up to 10 visitors and typically last between 1.5 to 2 hours in which time you will be introduced to the history and legend of samurai, before watching a performance of swordsmanship from a master teacher and then allow to try for yourself. One of Kyoto’s most highly-rated experiences, it is suitable for guests aged 6 and up. For more information including booking options, click on the button below.
