Indulge & Unwind in Grand Phenix’s Mineral Spas, Finnish Sauna & Heated Swimming Pool
No matter when you’re visiting Hotel Grand Phenix, guests can take advantage of hotel’s spa, sauna and pool facilities – the ideal way to rest and revitalise after a long day of skiing or snowboarding, or to simply unwind and indulge your senses in the tranquil beauty of spring, summer and autumn.
Located on the hotel’s fourth floor and affording relaxing views of the surrounding landscape, Grand Phenix’s open-air mineral spa is open from 6AM each morning until midnight (briefly closed during the day, from midday until 3PM) for the exclusive use of hotel guests.
Men’s and women’s spas offer 190 degree views of Shiga Kogen’s pristine scenery while the water itself is known to aid metabolism, blood circulation and improve skin condition. Both the men’s and women’s spas include an indoor bath and sauna, each offering further views of the surrounding landscape.
Open daily from 4PM until midnight, the fourth floor dry saunas are heated to 95℃ to 100℃. After a long day of skiing or snowboarding, you’ll appreciate the chance to indulge in spa and sauna, as you feel your body and mind lift and you absorb everything about your stay in Okushiga.
In addition to these facilities, Hotel Grand Phenix also offers a heated indoor swimming pool and Finnish sauna on its ground-floor – open to both guests and paying day-visitors. The pool and jacuzzi are open to hotel guests from 6AM to 11PM while day-visitors are welcome to use the facilities from 9AM until 9PM, costing JPY1200 for adults and JPY400 for children (swimwear can also be rented for JPY550).
Accessible from the pool area, Grand Phenix’s Finnish sauna or ‘löyly’ sauna is heated to 80℃ with a humidity of between 30% to 40%. The word ‘löyly’ describes the steam that is emitted when water falls onto the sauna rocks however a more literal translation is ‘spirit of life’ – something that is essential to good living and a healthy way of life.
Hotel Grand Phenix’s Finnish ‘löyly’ sauna is open to hotel guests from 07:00 until 23:00 and again for day-visitors from 09:00 to 21:00 (with the cost included in admission to the pool).
