Family-friendly Ski Hotel in a Perfect Location

As the nearest ski fields to the Jigokudani Monkey Park, Shiga Kogen can also boast of being the largest and highest ski resort in Japan and blessed with Nagano’s longest season. The expansive terrain offers seemingly endless ski runs to enjoy and explore – well-suited to all levels but especially beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.

Located directly across from the Takamagahara ski fields and pubic bus stops, Hotel Sunny Shiga is an ideal base from which to explore the resort. All connected areas of the resort are easily skiable from Takamagahara with the public bus – that stops in front of the hotel – transporting guests to the more distant Yokoteyama ski fields along with the Jigokudani Monkey Park and Yudanaka Station.

A total of around 80 ski runs are interconnected by more than 50 chairlifts and gondolas – the greatest expanse of connected ski runs in Japan – and all covered by Shiga Kogen’s all-mountain ski pass. Single, multi-day and other passes can be arranged through the hotel.

Hotel Sunny Shiga offers a selection of rooms including both Western and Japanese-style (on-floor) bedding. Rooms are spacious, bright, and many have outstanding views of the surrounding landscape. All rooms have toilets and many have private bathrooms.

Breakfast and dinner meal services offer both Western and Japanese cuisine. Typical of Japanese hotels, both breakfast and dinner times are set and the hotel asks that guests cooperate with those times.

At the end of day, you’ll appreciate the hotel’s central location when returning from the more distant ski fields of resort. The hotel’s ‘onsen’ (natural hot spring) and sauna is waiting for you, the perfect way to unwind after a long day on the mountain. Reception is open from 07:00 until 21:00. Check-out is by 10:00 with check-in available from 15:00 (or at anytime of day if your room is ready).
