The Daidogei Street Performance Festival (ながの大道芸フェスティバル) is held on the Chuo Street beginning near the station and going all the way up to the Zenko-ji Temple and the Gondo Arcade Street, which is adjacent to the Chuo Street. The street is declared as car-free from 11:30 to 18:30, so you can move freely across the street 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. You will see as many as 20 street performances at the festival, including of course Japanese-style performances!
