Iya Valley is a secluded inland area of Tokushima Prefecture on the island of Shikoku, known of its beautiful river valley, vine bridges, deep forests and lost hamlets. The valley follows the flow of the Iya River from its source in Mount Tsurugi until it meets the Yoshino River and is typically divided into the ‘Nishi (West) Iya’ and ‘Oku (Inner) or Higashi (East) Iya’ Valley.  Of primary interest in the Iya Valley, ‘Chiiori’ is a 300-year old farmhouse converted into high-end accommodation that attracts guests from all over the world.
