Kochi Prefecture covers much of the southern area of Shikoku, including a long Pacific coast. It is a largely undeveloped area of beautiful coastline including some of Japan’s best surf, pristine rivers and secluded valleys with Kochi City being the largest city in the prefecture. There’s a good range hotels and guesthouses in the city, many of which are mid-sized business hotels offering Western rooms and amenities. Most accommodation is located between Kochi Station and the Kagami River to the south. Other than its beautifully-preserved castle, Kochi City doesn’t have a lot in the way of attractions however it’s a convenient place to stay when exploring the Kochi surf coast - where you'll also find accommodation including beachside guesthouses and other basic options.
