Osaka: Namba Station Area
Home to Osaka’s most iconic landmark, the bright neon signs of Dotonbori including its famous ‘Glico Man’, it’s almost certain that every first-time visitor to the city strolls through this area. Often called ‘Minami’, the area around Namba Station and nearby Dotonbori is the southern part of Osaka’s downtown. Lying to the south of Shin-Osaka Station and Umeda Station, there three – with the addition of the area around nearby Shinsaibashi Station – comprise the most popular areas for people to stay while visiting Osaka. A city famous for its shopping, dining and nightlife, you’ll find lots to do in the area including Shinsaibashi-suji shopping arcade, Amerika-mura and the shopping and dining oasis of Namba Parks.
Visitors wanting to enjoy some of the best of Osaka’s nightlife without having to worry about missing the last train should consider basing themselves in this area and by doing so, be right in the heart of the action. The Namba Station Area has more mid-range accommodation options than high-end with options including Namba Oriental Hotel, Hotel Monterey Grasmere and Hotel Royal Classic Osaka.
