Shoji Lake (Shojiko) Area
Sitting between Saiko and Motosuko, Shojiko or ‘Shoji Lake’ is the smallest of the ‘Fuji Five Lakes’. It is mostly undeveloped with only a couple of accommodation options however the views of the mountain from the northern shore are renowned as beautiful. The lake is popular with Japanese who come to hike, fish and camp or enjoy watersports including boating and water-skiing. The quiet and undeveloped character of Shojiko will appeal to some travelers however for most international visitors, the larger and more developed Kawaguchiko and Yamanakako will be more convenient and more attractive as destinations. For accommodation listings at the other lakes, see the relevant hotel page: Kawaguchi Lake (Kawaguchiko) / Yamanaka Lake (Yamanakako) / Sai Lake (Saiko) / Motosu Lake (Motosuko).
