Yokohama: Kannai Station Area
The area around Kannai Station is one of the best precincts to stay when visiting Yokohama. Only 5 minutes by train from Yokohama Station, Kannai Station is quick and easy to reach and offers the greatest concentration of accommodation of any area in the city. To reach Yokohama station, take the Negishi Line. From there, you can connect to many areas across Yokohama. To the west of station, you’ll find plenty of mid-range to budget business hotels and basic lodges with prices typically lower than around Yokohama Station, Sakuragicho Station and Mintao Mirai 21 bayside area.
Kannai station is a key gateway to central Yokohama, with good access to many of its sports venues, heritage sites and offices. Therefore it is popular both with tourists and locals! Kannai station is serviced by JR East Lines, with the Negishi Line running from there, and also the Yokohama City Subway Blue Line connecting Kannai to different parts of Yokohama, including to the popular Shinkansen station of Shin-Yokohama. It should be noted that Kannai Station is not serviced by a Shinkansen / ‘Bullet Train’ line, with Shin-Yokohama Station being the city’s only shinkansen station. So if you’re looking for the fastest way into Tokyo or to reach other parts of Japan, transferring to Shin-Yokohama will be the best option.
Some of the key attractions near the Kannai area include Yokohama Stadium, Yamashita Park, Izezakicho shopping street, and Kanagawa’s Prefectural Museum of Cultural History.
