Day 1 SHIRAKAWAGO

As such the area has many great options for travelers looking to enjoy the city’s fine dining or nightlife. Day 2 KAMIKOCHI

How to Start Your Day

Hope your camera is fully charged, because on your adventure today, Japan will be showing off its natural beauty to the max. Remember to pack some layers because weather in Kamikochi can change quickly and it will be notably cooler than where we start our day in Nagoya. Please ensure you are wearing good quality footwear suitable for walking on uneven ground and we recommend always bringing a small pack or bag to carry water, snacks, umbrella, etc. Of course, your camera is a must!

Day 6 NAKASENDO TRAIL

How to Start Your Day

Day six takes us into Nagano along the Nakasendo trail. Also known as "the Samurai Road" this historic route includes some of Japan's best preserved towns including Tsumago and Magome and winding cobblestone walkways—which you'll be able to hike.

As this tour starts a little later than the previous days, you'll have time to sleep in and enjoy a big breakfast before your hike. Just remember to purchase a bento beforehand as there is no place to buy food on the trail!

1-Day Tour from Nagoya: Hiking the Historic Nakasendo Trail / March - June & September - December

Step into the past and experience life in rural Japan as you hike the Nakasendo trail from Tsumago-juku to Magome-juku. This scenic section of the Nakasendo trail is brimming with lush forests, crystal-clear streams, and remote mountain villages—which have remained relatively untouched by the modern world. Today we set off to one of Japan's true hidden gems the Muro Akame Aoyama Quasi-National Park and Soni Highlands. The Japanese pampas grass swaying in the wind against the backdrop of Mt. Kuroso—one of Japan’s 300 famous mountains—is a sight that is sure to mesmerize. There aren't many places to purchase lunch on today's tour, so we kindly request you to purchase a bento before meeting your guide for the day.
