The city of Onomichi is well-known for its temples and as the access point to many of the small islands lying within the Seto Inland Sea. Connected by multiple bridges, these islands have become a popular cycling and tourist destination. As such, there are some unique and majestic sites to be explored within them. One of Onomichi's most famous islands is Ikuchijima, located around a 40-minute ferry ride from the coast. It is home to Kosan-ji Temple, a peculiar Buddhist temple which differs from all others in Japan.
