Running from Sounzan Station to Togendai Station, the Hakone Ropeway connects visitors with some of Hakone’s most popular destinations including Owakudani, the Hakone Open-Air Museum and Ashinoko. Four stations make-up the ropeway - Sounzan, Owakudani, Ubako and Togendai. The base station - Sounzan - is located next to Gora Station and therefore directly accessible from the Hakone Tozan Railway.

It takes around 8 minutes to ride between each with the total journey taking around 35-minutes. In between, passengers can disembark at either Owakudani Station or Ubako Station, from where walking trails span-out through the landscape. Gondolas hold up to 18 passengers and depart every minute. On a clear day, the ropeway allows for fantastic views of Fuji.

It should be noted that poor weather, maintenance and increased volcanic activity can lead to closure of the ropeway.
